What Is an LRC File?

An LRC file is a plain-text lyric format that pairs each line of a song with a timestamp. A line looks like [00:12.00]We were both young, and media players, karaoke apps, and many lyric video tools read that bracket to know exactly when to show the words. Instead of static lyrics that sit in one block, timed lyrics scroll in time with the music, which is what makes sing-along videos and synced captions possible.

Building an LRC by hand in a text editor is slow and error-prone: you scrub the song, guess a timestamp, type it, and recheck. This tool replaces that loop with a tap interface. You play the track in another window, press Start here, and tap a big button the moment each line arrives. The tool writes the brackets for you.

How It Works

1
Build your linesPaste your lyrics one line per row and press Build Lines. Fill in the track title and artist if you want them embedded in the file.
2
Start the clockPress Start to begin the on-screen clock. Play the song in another tab, app, or device.
3
Stamp each linePress the big Stamp button (or the spacebar) exactly when each line begins. The next unstamped line lights up so you know what is coming.
4
Download the LRCEdit timestamps inline if needed, then press Download .lrc. The file is generated locally with optional [ti:] and [ar:] metadata lines.

Tips for Best Results

✓
Start on the downbeatAlign the first stamp with the first sung word, not the intro. You can always trim later.
✓
Stamp the start of each lineLRC timestamps mark when a line appears, so tap on the first word, not the end.
✓
Skip instrumental gapsInstrumental gaps do not need a timestamp; blank rows are skipped on export.
✓
Use headphonesSpeaker latency and room echo make taps land late; headphones give you the cleanest cue.

FAQ

What players open .lrc files?
Most desktop music players and many lyric video editors read standard LRC. The file is plain text, so you can also open it in any editor to check the timestamps.
Do I need to play the song inside this page?
No. Play the track in another tab, another app, or on your phone, and stamp along here. The clock just measures elapsed time.
Can I fix a wrong timestamp after stamping?
The lyric text is editable inline; to redo a time, press Reset and re-stamp, or download and hand-edit the brackets in a text editor.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The timer and file generation run locally in your browser. Your lyrics never leave the page.
Is it free?
Yes. No account, no limits on the number of lines or files.
